Help shape the 2015 New Jersey History and Historic Preservation Conference by submitting your proposal for a session, workshop, tour, or poster presentation. The 2015 Conference will be held in Mount Laurel, Burlington County on June 4, 2015.
All Proposals are due on Monday, November 17, 2014.
Sessions are 75 minutes in length and typically consist of a moderator and 3 - 4 speakers. If selected, the session organizer will be responsible for confirming speakers, creating the content of the session, and ensuring that the session is appropriately implemented.
Workshops are half-day (2 hours 30 minutes) programs that provide practical skill development for the attendee. Workshops incorporate lectures, hands-on experience, extensive interaction, and useful resources for participants. If selected, the workshop organizer will be responsible for confirming speakers, creating the content of the workshop, and ensuring that the workshop is appropriately implemented.
Tours (approx. 3 hours) give conference attendees an opportunity to see preservation projects both complete and in-progress, and experience heritage sites thoughout the area. Tours may incorporate multiple modes of transportation; walking, public transportation, trolley, or bus. If selected, the tour proposer will be responsible for organizing all preparations for the tour. This may include confirming speakers, preparing detailed itinerary, and coordinating with off-site locations.
Student Poster Presentations will be a juried competition. Students are encouraged to submit a poster that highlights individual presentations on historical research, case studies, and historic preservation projects. The mounted posters will be on display throughout the day with an opportunity at a set time for informal discussion with the jury and attendees. Posters should be educational and cannot be a promotion of a product, service, or organization. Prizes will be awarded during the closing session. More information on poster requirements coming soon.
Registration and Speaker Policy
All conference speakers are required to register for the conference at a discounted rate of $35 . Any request for travel reimbursement must be included with the proposal. Only out-of-state travel requests will be considered for reimbursement.
We give preference to panels that offer a variety of perspectives, especially examples and presenters from a variety of community sizes facing similar issues. Proposals should be educational and should not be a promotion of a product, service, or organization.

Tips for Submitting a Proposal
All facility rooms will have power point capability. Alternative AV requirements should be identified in the proposal. The History and Historic Preservation Conference attracts professional planners, architects, historians, archeologists, archivists, curators, public officials, preservation commission and non-profit staff and board members, consultants, volunteers, and students.
The conference planning committee accepts proposals that reflect the complexities and challenges of preserving and interpreting our heritage and would be relevant to a diverse audience.
The conference planning committee retains sole discretion in the selection of proposals. Proposals not selected may be retained for future events.
