Kate Marcopul

Kate Marcopul is currently the NJ Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer and the Manager of the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office (NJHPO) which is responsible for the identification, protection, and preservation of historic and archaeological resources throughout the State of New Jersey. Kate oversees a 23-member staff whose responsibilities include administering the Certified Local Government program, the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places, review and compliance under federal and state law, the federal historic tax credit program, survey and inventory, and preservation planning. Kate holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Anthropology from Temple University, a B.A. in Anthropology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and is a Certified Public Manager. She is also currently a member of the board of the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers, represents the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection as an ex-officio board member of the NJ Historic Trust, and serves as an ex-officio member of the NJ Historical Commission.
