Joe Barris, PP, AICP, CFM, is presently the Monmouth County Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development which includes overseeing the County’s Division of Planning, Office of Community Development, Office of Economic Development, the Monmouth County Historic Commission and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) including 4-H. Much of my time is spent coordinating Department efforts, administering programs, mentoring staff, and improving organizational processes. He is a founding member of the Freehold Borough Arts Council, former board member and President of Monmouth Arts, the county’s official arts and arts responder agency, ex-officio board member of the Monmouth Conservation Foundation (MCF), and recently accepted the role of part-time Executive Director of the New Jersey Association for Floodplain managers. He is a graduate or Rutgers University with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a master’s degree in city and Regional Planning from the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
