Richard Polton has broad experience in real estate, planning and urban affairs. He has an active practice in real estate consulting and specializes in planning issues, urban history, urban redevelopment, affordable housing, residential feasibility and marketability analysis. He is a principal in Value Research Group, LLC, one of the leading real estate valuation firms in New Jersey. Polton is owns and operates property in Montclair, NJ. He is the developer and owner of the recently completed a forty unit, mixed income, mixed use project known as the Montclarion II at 125 Bloomfield Avenue, directly across the street from the Bay Street Station in Montclair. Polton has a love of urban and architectural history. He is the author of The Life and Times of Fred Wesley Wentworth: The Architect Who Shaped Paterson, NJ and Its People (2012, distributed by Rutgers University Press). He is currently the President of the Jewish Historical Society of Northern New Jersey. Polton received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in American History; a Bachelor in Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and Master’s degrees in City Planning (MCP) and Architecture (M. Arch. A.S) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
