Vincent Maresca III is a Historic Preservation Specialist 2 with the New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office (NJ SHPO). Vincent has worked in a professional position at NJ SHPO since 2007 including project reviews under the New Jersey Register of Historic Places Act, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Land Resource Protection permitting, and Executive Order 215 and reviewer for Criterion D significance on National Register of Historic Places nominations submitted to the NJ SHPO. Vincent monitors NJ SHPO’s easements, developed NJ SHPO archaeological GIS database, provides guidance and regulatory review for dams and other water control structures, NJ SHPO representative to the NJTPA’s Morris Canal Greenway Committee, and below ground reviewer for multiple federal agencies including the New Jersey Department of Transportation, NJ Transit, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, DEP-Division of Land Resource Protection, and NJ Parks and Forestry projects. Prior to his employment at the NJ SHPO, Vincent worked for 15 years as a professional archaeologist in the Middle Atlantic managing and directing Phase I, II, and III archaeological and cultural resource investigations on pre-Contact period, colonial period farmsteads, industrial, and military-related archaeological sites.
