To introduce the immense research value the Beverwyck Plantation site offers for African American research, lifeways of pre and post-colonial citizens on a northern plantation, Revolutionary War politics and social interactions, enslavement from mid-1700s to Emancipation, self-sufficiency, consumerism from 1750s – 1803, landscape use, manufacturing and trade, and group identities.
