Annabelle Radcliffe-Trenner founded Historic Building Architects, LLC, Trenton, NJ, an award-winning firm specializing in historic public buildings over 30 years ago. She was trained as a preservation architect in Scotland and then at ICCROM in Rome. She is a Fellow of Association Preservation Technology International. Annabelle has a keen interest in the long-term planning for and the ethics of intervention on heritage sites. Eager to educate the public, she lectures on preservation issues internationally. One of her interests is the use of technology, material analysis and NDE science to supplement the visual understanding and planning for the preservation of buildings. She has been interviewed on National Public Radio and NJ Television on historic preservation issues, and about restoration, following the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral, by NBC and Fox Business News. Recently completed projects include: Castle Hill Restoration, Ipswich, MA, which received the 2025 Preservation Massachusetts Frederick Law Olmsted Award, The Olson House HSR, Cushing, ME, the Dr James Still Restoration, Medford and the Phase 1 Indian King Restoration, Haddonfield both for NJ DEP, the Phase 1 & 2 Restoration of Hennessy Hall at Fairleigh Dickinson University, the  Restoration of Building 56 Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook, and the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, Madison, in NJ.

(W-1) Practical Preservation Techniques for Traditional Finishes: A Hands-On Experience

Audience:
This is a hands-on, technical workshop that expands upon the use and application of linseed oil paints as presented on during last year’s conference. The workshop will begin with a brief presentation of linseed oil paints then the participants will break out into working groups to practice preparation and application. The stations include plaster application, window application, the painting process, and removal/stripping. Attendees will leave the workshop with an understanding of how to use and apply linseed oil paints on windows and clapboard.
