Steve Nagiewicz

Stephen Nagiewicz is a certified technical scuba diver, USCG Licensed Ships Master. He is a Fellow and former Executive Director of the Explorers Club, managed the State of New Jersey’s Marine Science Laboratory and Former Chairman for Shark Research Institute. Steve is a retired high school science teacher and currently an adjunct professor of Marine Science at Stockton University and lecturer at Monmouth University. He is a registered professional marine archaeologist with over 40 years of underwater experience. He has authored and co-authored: Hidden History of Maritime New Jersey, 2016, ROBERT J. WALKER. The History and Archaeology of a U.S. Coast Survey Steamship 2020, and a chapter contributor in; Citizen Science in Maritime Archaeology 2023, The Archaeology of the American Revolution 2025 and International Horseshoe Crab Conservation and Research Efforts, 2007-2020 in addition to numerous articles in academic journals and consumer mass media publications which has led to his frequent role as a trusted marine science media commentator. Steve has appeared on television episodes on National Geographic, Discovery, Science Channel, PBS, and many network news broadcasts sharing his expertise and passion for ocean conservation with millions of viewers through informative news segments and educational specials."
