Richard W. Hunter

Richard W. Hunter, Ph.D., RPA, is the founder of Trenton-based cultural resources consulting firm, Hunter Research, Inc. He has over 40 years of experience directing historic preservation projects in the northeastern United States. His experience is in the fields of historical and industrial archaeology and historical geography, with research interests in the Revolutionary War, water-powered industry and pottery manufacture. Richard is a Registered Professional Archaeologist. He currently serves on the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission and is a past President of Preservation New Jersey, the Hopewell Valley Historical Society and the Trenton Downtown Association. Within the past year, he has overseen completion of a historic properties management plan for Washington Crossing State Park and is working on an update of the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Master Plan. On behalf of Somerset County, Richard is currently leading the company’s collaboration with Monmouth University in organizing the Lord Stirling Manor Archaeological Field School.
