(S-13) Archaeology at Lord Stirling Manor – Engaging the Public and Curating the Future of a Lost Country Estate

Time:
Thursday, 2:00 - 3:15 pm
Location:
Audience:
The Lord Stirling Manor Archaeological Site was excavated between 1984 and 1990 as a field school and exercise in public archaeology by the late Dr. Alan Cooper of the Morristown Beard School, but the results of this work have never been fully reported or interpreted. This shortcoming is currently being addressed through Somerset County’s retaining of Hunter Research, Inc. to synthesize and analyze these earlier investigations and the vast quantity of recovered cultural materials and host a field school in conjunction with Monmouth University, with a strong emphasis on public engagement.
