Rebecca Fitzgerald
Administrator, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's State Park Service
Rebecca Fitzgerald serves as the Administrator of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s State Park Service, overseeing the management and operations of 39 state parks, 11 state forests, and five recreation areas spanning more than 450,000 acres. She began her career with the State Park Service in 1993 as a seasonal employee at High Point State Park and transitioned to a permanent role in 1999, spending more than 23 years as a Superintendent managing park in northern New Jersey. Appointed Administrator in 2022, Rebecca draws on decades of field experience to support the stewardship of New Jersey’s natural and cultural resources while ensuring staff have the tools and training needed to serve the public. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys hiking, trail running, cycling, kayaking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the landscapes she helps protect.
