Jean Howson

Jean Howson is a Principal Archaeologist at NV5, a nationwide engineering and architectural consulting company with a Cultural Resources Group in Parsippany, NJ. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from NYU, and her research ranges from Caribbean plantation sites to rural New Jersey taverns, but she has special expertise in urban archaeology. Howson helped plan and direct some of the largest archaeological projects to date in both Jersey City and Newark and worked for several years with the scientific team at Howard University on the analysis of the African Burial Ground in New York. Her current projects include analysis of the Corlears Hook Park Site in lower Manhattan and development of a collections inventory and archaeological overview for Galways Plantation, Montserrat, for the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery.
