Kelly C. Ruffel

Kelly C. Ruffel, is the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs for the County of Passaic, and serves as the Assistant County Administrator. In her role, she oversees all of Passaic County’s historic assets from administering program and preservation grants, capital improvement and planning projects, to the development and implementation of cultural and interpretive programming. She previously served as the Principal Historic Preservation Specialist for the City of Paterson, assisting in public preservation projects such as the development and implementation of design guidelines for the Downtown Commercial Historic District, landmark designations, and regulatory permitting review. She continues to serve as a commissioner on the City of Paterson Historic Preservation Commission and Verona Historic Preservation Commissioner, Executive Director to Preservation New Jersey, treasurer to the Society of Industrial Archeology Roebling Chapter, and Trustee on both the Friends of Passaic County Parks, Inc., Friends of Dey Mansion, Inc., and the Hobart Manor Revitalization Committee. A New Jersey native, Ms. Ruffel holds her BA in History, BA in Anthropology, and an MA in History from William Paterson University.
