Susan Ryan

Susan Ryan is a licensed architect in the State of New Jersey. She received her Bachelor’s in Architecture from Kent State University and an M.S. Historic Preservation from Columbia University. While attending this program, she worked as a draftsman for the National Park Service on a HAER (Historic American Engineering Record) documentation project located in Southwest Pennsylvania. Susan first worked in private architectural practice for historic preservation/restoration/adaptive reuse firms located in New York NY, Cleveland OH and Philadelphia PA. She then shifted to project management at institutions, first at Burlington County College (now RCBC). She is currently Historic Architect for the almost 1000 buildings within the Rutgers University portfolio. In this role she interfaces with the City of Camden HPC, the City of Newark LHPC, and the New Jersey HPO. Concurrent with her professional career, Susan has put her historic preservation training and experience to use as a volunteer. She was first a commissioner on the Historic Preservation Commission for the Township of Mount Holly, where she served as Vice-Chair. She also volunteered with Main Street Mount Holly on the Design Committee. Susan has served on the Historic Preservation Commission for the Township of Cranbury since 2016, with three terms as Chair.
